RENOVATE IN FRANCE ONE YEAR ON!
I have just been checking through my site admin page and noticed that the date on the welcome page is the 22nd May 2009, Unbelievable but true this website is now over 1 year old. I must admit it came as a bit of a shock to me as well.
Things have been a bit quiet re uploading content as I have been tied up with the day job and need to make sure that is going as well as it can. Still problematic but getting there.
So what have we learnt in the first year?
Some things surprising, some things obvious and some other things that have enriched the experience.
The surprising things involve the actual mechanics of the site and web world in general really. The fact that the published words and images are truly global has been a revelation. It has generated interest in places afar; Canada, Australia all parts of the UK including Ireland and obviously mainland Europe. This interest has meant that the various search engines, Google et al now have us ranked quite highly. At least on page one on most and in some instances (Google com. Search “renovate in France“) position 1 page 1 of a lot of responses.
The obvious ones are to a lesser extent related to the production and organising of content. The actual process of writing, photographing, organising and finally uploading and publishing content in practical terms is quite easy. The hard bit is the discipline involved in making sure that the style and format is uniform. Thus giving the site an identity. Not to mention making sure that the content in either the written word or visual image is interesting and relevant.
In terms of enrichment. We have been heartened to receive many compliments and good wishes from people who have used the site as a resource and source of information and guidance. The fact that people have felt they could contribute their own experiences and stories has led us in a direction not envisaged but very welcome all the same.
As for the future we are exploring avenues that will lead to new and interesting developments re new build planning and construction (watch this space). We also hope to extend the range of services available on-line to include artisans and services contact details for renovators and converters to find suitable trades peoples for the projects. Exciting times ahead.
So, if you are a frequent visitor, thank you for being with us for the first year and if your new to the site welcome and come back soon.
All the best
Steve Davies
